Born in the beautiful state of Oregon and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Ashley K. Barnes has established herself as a consistent documentary photographer in New York City. Upon graduating her first degree, Ashley set out to travel the world and document the many cultural stories she was fortunate enough to witness. After three years of living in South America, Ashley moved to New York City where her art, travels, and global curiosity thrive. To Ashley, photography is storytelling and encompassing the different ways people interact within society which she hopes to display in an artistic and aesthetically pleasing manner while showing the truth and beauty of the world. Her ideas are always bouncing and her desire to connect to others is permanent.
"If people can look at these stories, ask questions, and be curious about one-another, then perhaps we can all finally realize we are the same. Photography was my journal, which became my art, and in the end, another way to connect to the many lives that I encounter." -Ashley K. Barnes
