"While completing my first degree, when I was 21 years of age, I studied abroad in the country of Guatemala. My eyes were peeled open and I have never been the same. A few years ago, I went back with my camera to capture one of my favorite places, as well as photograph a medical clinic situated in Santa Cruz, Lago Atitlan. The Mayan Medical Aid, was started by MD Craig A. Sinkinson, and provides free healthcare for the Mayan indigenous of Lago, Atitlan. Along with a few photos from the clinic, the doctor arranged for me to meet the eldest mid-wife in the village, and between bright smiles, she allowed me to photograph her profound and giving presence". -Ashley K.
